Providence Health & Services ETL Developer II in Portland, Oregon
Providence is calling an ETL Developer II to Providence Health & Services in Renton, WA or Portland, OR offices.
As a member of the Population Health Finance and Analytics team, the Healthcare ETL (Extract, Transform, Load) Developer will write the scripts used to combine healthcare data from many internal and external sources into analytic-ready datasets.
The Healthcare ETL Developer will develop de-duplication, normalization and source/target mapping scripts to integrate data from payers, provider systems and third parties. He or she may also assist in database design and algorithm improvement (e.g. patient matching algorithms).
The Healthcare ETL Developer will continuously improve the ETL scripts and modify them as the source data changes and business needs evolve. He or she will also train and oversee the ETL work of Healthcare Analysts.
This position supports the creation, growth and optimization of a data warehousing and analytic platform to serve a variety of operational and analytical uses that maximizes user self-service and exploration of data. This includes significant manual and automated testing to ensure the highest quality data are available to clinical and business users.
The work environment includes SQL Server, the Enterprise Data Warehouse (EDW) and other software products to support data extraction, transformation and loading for the Population Health Finance and Analytics Department.
This position reports to the Director of Data Operations and Analytics in the Population Health Finance and Analytics Department. The incumbent will work both independently and with a variety of staff within PH&S, including directors, managers, and analysts. The incumbent will interact extensively with data source subject matter experts (SMEs) across the organization and will work collaboratively with other Healthcare Intelligence team members on the development of a hybrid data warehouse environment and the delivery of projects.
Required qualifications for this position include:
Bachelor's degree required. Bachelor's degree in computer science, MIS, or mathematics preferred.
6-8 years' experience in ETL and or software developement.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
ETL development processes and best practices using standard ETL tools like Informatica PowerCenter, Microsoft SSIS.
ETL system administration experience preferred.
Advanced SQL skills including stored procedures, triggers and advanced functions.
Strong knowledge of relational database design principles; performance tuning, indexing and compression, transaction management and partitioning.
Programming skills in VB, C#, .NET, UNIX shell, or Java.
Data transport methodologies and standards: secure file transfer, HL7, XML, web services.
Data warehousing and business intelligence principles; familiarity with quantitative methods.
